YA was right, there used to be a place on Essen, The Mill. Used to brew their own beer.

I might be wrong here, but I thought Baton Rouge had one about 10-15 years ago. Where Parrain's is now on Perkins Rd. used to be a "Icehouse Restaurant" or something....didn't they brew their own beer there or am I remembering incorrectly?

Icehouse didn't brew there own beer. It was owned by the Brousseau's and then they changed it to Parrains. They used to own the Caterie and their brother Mack (who is dead now) owned half of Uncle Earls in the Southdowns shopping center with Missy Jackson.

Phyllies Chili did not make beer. It was the place mentioned above that came in after Phyllies Chili closed and revovated and put in the microbrewery.

Not sure if the ordinance has been changed since then or not.

It was a good place but Parrains is better. I'm a fan even though it is just good old fried seafood. Nice bar and TV's too.

I would love a Dairy Queen. I agree that Central doesn't really count (because it's way out of MY way and it's all about me). Plus the one in Central is part of a gas station. Not the same.

Even so, I usually go get a Blizzard whenever I happen to be in that area. Maybe I'm better off without DQ nearby.

There was a Red Robin in the Mall of Louisiana, I think.

All I know is I spoke to the manager of BJ's Brewhouse about their beer and he said they can't brew beer onsite in Baton Rouge. We didn't go into specifically what the issue was but that's what he said. He said they can still call it "Brewhouse" because they do brew root beer onsite but not beer.

BJs tried to get permission to brew beer, but got shot down by the Metro Council. Distributor Lobby is way too powerful. The Major Distributors do not want this. They own Louisiana Alcoholic Beverages!

If they the Distributors and Lobby are behind all these stories people here mention over and over again..it's just another reason this state is 49th and 50th and will stay there with it's silly Mickey Mouse pushover powers-that-be and their populace..So Utterly F@cked Up!

P.S. Quit sending the politicians on La tax dollars to Austin, Nashville,etc..they wouldn't know an Ann Arbor or Madison or Charlotte when they saw one..even if she spread her legs for 'em.

More commomly known in Louisiana as the "Beer" lobby and believe me they are a powerful bunch. Always have been and in this state always will be.
