I'll take Washington and the 19.5 points at home over USC.

19.5 with both Taylor Mays and Barkley out is a bit high. I'd be very impressed if we went up there and beat them by 3 TD's.

I expect we'll win, but they will play hard and it will be a fun game. I might take UW and the points, but I don't bet against SC.

But still, I'm sure SC will be up for the game more than LSU was, considering the players are facing former coaches. LSU thought it was facing sister mother mary of the poor and looked lethargic the whole game... and was still up by 15 points until the last play.

You are right to give the original poster grief on his analysis. But if LSU/UW is this weekend, LSU wins by more than 17.5. I mean, as poorly as the Tigers played, we were up 15 until the last play of the game. The advantage we had over UW was our offense v. their defense. We did not take advantage of that--remember all of the "vanilla offense" posts. In game 3 we will open that up.

Oh and USC is going to hang 50 on UW. Locker and co will score on the Trojans but the Trojans are just as talented as LSU on offense and Pete Carroll doesn't hold stuff back.

Another way of looking at the 17.5 points...more money is being placed on Washington, they are trying to get more money placed on usc.

Always a good bet not to bet on your favorite team because emotion sometimes gets in the way. But I think USC probably wins this one, but Washington is catching them at an opportune time since USC won the big game last week. This should be an interesting game.

Thats telling me the oddsmakers think USC is only 2 points stronger than LSU

No, they think USC is 11.5 points stronger than LSU. They already know what the actual point spread was when LSU played UW.

FYI New line out has USC at -18.5 not 19.5

and if LSU was playing UW now after UW played a similar caliber SEC team in the first game with the same score, with LSU playing a similar caliber team in game one with the same score-- LSU would be favored by much less than it was.

You don't have to go through all the similar caliber opponent stuff. You can just say what if LSU were playing UW this week, knowing what we know right now. And, for what it's worth, I agree with you that we would be favored by less than we were two weeks ago if we were playing them again.

And USC is likely playing without their starting QB...

Actually, Aaron Corp was their starting QB. Barkley played because Corp got hurt. Corp will play Sat.

Sort of. Corp got hurt, and Barkley got a chance to beat him out. Even when Corp got better, Barkley remained the starter. If Corp is 100% and Barkley is 100%, Barkley wins the job.

I kinda actually prefer Corp, but he is an unknown quantity as a starter, so we'll see how it works out. It's a great problem to have, IMHO.

Love how LSU fans keep talking about this but fail to realize LSU didn't go up by 15 until 1:30 left in the game...

If that makes you feel better, so be it. But LSU didn't put the game away until 1:30 left in the game despite being thwarted on the offensive stats.

well yeah it makes me feel better.

and after that score, the game was over. the points scored on the last play meant nothing to the game.

Thats telling me the oddsmakers think USC is only 2 points stronger than LSU ......... Wait that can't be true , from what I been reading on this board that LSU don't deserved to be ranked in the top 10 !!
Well I guess USC don't deserved a top ten ranking either
I guess some people on here know more than the oddsmakers
Betting lines are fluid, relative to the situation, and based on situations. A betting line for 2 different teams from 2 weeks ago can't be compared logically to one today.
