Example for those who don't see it - Vandy is gaining yards at the start of the game. Nothing large just some good gains and he starts with this "here we go again" attitude.

I had the same attitude.

Plus the fact that he is apparently having vision problems. He usually calls the wrong name on crucial plays. Maybe he is just too excited.

This I can live with. I can also live with not knowing what is going on for a few moments while he tries to sort out what is happening.

What I can't deal with is when his attitude goes to shite and when he decides he is going to argue and nitpick every thing that Doug says.

I too like his voice, but if you want to actually know what's going on he's horrible. He gets player's names mixed up constantly and when he gets excited, he doesn't actually tell you what's going on. Just a lot of "my oh my" and "oh boy". I listen to the broadcasts for Doug Moreau.

I listened to the game while I was in the stadium Saturday night and I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.

It's listening to the game when you can't see what's going on that makes it painful.

That being said, it will be interesting to see who replaces him when Jim decides to retire.

Would love to see Jim Henderson do it, but I doubt that would ever happen.

I've said that several times on here the past few years. Henderson would be my choice, but a long shot. Don't know if he would want to do both LSU and the Saints though. Would be tough working out the logistics. He'd be taking a lot of late night/early morning flights out of BR or NO when the Saints play an away game and LSU is at home. $$$$$$ talks though and if LSU offered enough, he might listen..........

What are some of the comments JH made to DM that detracted from the game?

Okay, I'll try to answer this. I can't recite verbatim the whole litany and it's really more of an ongoing conversation process with JH and DM.

I really don't have much of a problem with JH's negativity toward the Tigers during the game. It reflects his "every fan" personna though it IS getting a little too much "my goodness, here we go again."

Okay. Doug Moreau says something relatively innocuous like "We have a hard time seeing the new scoreboard from here."

JH: "No, we CAN see the scoreboard from here!" in a very disgusted tone of voice.

I mean, making a big deal over nothing and then DM has to make some sort of good-humored counter to say "let's move on."

It is a CONSTANT stream of exchanges like this--over NOTHING really relevant to the game on the field--initiated by Hawthorne.

The guy lost me after the bluegrass miracle. Probably the greatest play he will ever call and he completely fumbled it. "JACK HUNT! JACK HUNT!"

Sounds as if he has adopted the Mike Francessa (a genuine a-hole in the NY City sports media world) style of sports journalism.

Yeah a lot of Louisianans can relate to Francessa.

Agree.

I listen in the stadium to keep up with down and distance, who is in the game, stuff that is hard to see sometimes. But by the 3rd quarter, I always end up turning it off because the constant stream of negative stuff - "we can't pull this out, I have a bad feeling about this", blah blah blah. It makes a stressful game 100 times worse.

doug moreau needs to go he makes excuses when lsu is losing and hawthorne tells it like it is. when lsu is winning moreau does a better job. moreau makes every excuse in the book when lsu is losing. the ole miss announcers are awful. a first down sounds like the national championship.

since we're discussing JH's replacement even though it probably won't happen for a few years, how about Lynn Rollins? I think he is much better than JH as far as calling a good game and I like his voice too. I have to say I'm not too crazy about the thought of Charles Hanagriff doing play by play if he is the one in line to do so. Thoughts?

Grad88 you are right. I have to turn him off. He is an employee of someone. If we perform to the level he does I would be fired.

I know Lynn Rollins and he is a very nice guy.

Lynn Rollins as the "Voice of the Tigers"?

Uh ... no thanks.
