The San Francisco 49ers have apparently reduced their offer to Crabtree, according to Yahoo! Sports' Michael Silver, and the team may keep reducing it each week that he doesn't play. The initial reduction is reportedly for $200,000.

The 49ers are apparently willing to pay Crabtree up to one dollar less than what the No. 9 pick, Green Bay Packers defensive tackle B.J. Raji(notes), who supposedly got a five-year deal for $28.5 million with almost $18 million guaranteed. But Crabtree supposedly wants more than that and is willing to sit out the season for it.

Niners head coach Mike Singletary admitted that offering pay reduction to Crabtree had been discussed but wasn't sure if the deed had actually been done, according to the San Jose Mercury News: "At this time in the year, that may be the case. I'm not sure," Singletary told the paper. "I didn't want to hear about it any more after last Friday. I said, 'Hey, do what you have to do. I'm focused over here.'"

Enjoy the games on TV, Michael.

I think the entire NFL should join together, not draft him next year, and make him join the CFL

I can't even fathom the rational behind what he is doing. He has ZERO chance of getting more money and the ultimate justice would be for the players union to come to an agreement and there be a pre determined slotting system next year.

I think Crabtree's killing his NFL career before it begins.

yeah he is either getting some terrible advice or he is just personally making a really bad mistake that will likely set his career back exponentially...if he sits out the whole year he may never be the same

Here's my question: What the hell is he doing in the meantime? Working at Wendy's?

hes an idiot.........will drop in the draft next year just because peeps will worry about his signability and his attitude that hes better than anyone else.....he has lost millions and should take the deal on the table. He will be the ultimate loser.......I bet he realizes it but will be willing to make a point to show them.........lol.

Created Michael Crabtree on Madden, put him in the free agent pool, signed him to the Patriots for $100MM

EDIT: Great minds, shank!

It makes no sense. Even if he gets a bigger contract next year, will he ever be able to recoup this year of lost wages?

Glad the Raiders didnt pick that queer. He would have demanded a contract bigger than Stafford's with the reasoning that he believes he's better. What a dumbass.

This is what I am thinking and it puts him a year further out from the lucrative 2nd contract.

there's no way he gets drafted as high as he was this year.......he has shown what hes about. Teams will take him in the second round....
