Freshman QB's

Between this year and last there has been a flood of talk about freshman qb's. Obviously LSU's have been discussed and overly discussed.
General consensus is you're not going to win big w/ freshman qb's. I think that is generally right.
That said, I really like what both Mich and USC are doing this year. They are willing to have a down year for three awesome years. Also, both Forcier and Barkley seem to be outstanding.
As much as I hate USC, I love their offensive scheme and really think that have an outside shot at the MNC, even w/ a freshman qb.
As for UM, RR seems to have identified a guy that runs his system well and he allows him to do it.
Both of these cases are far better examples of how to manage young QB's than we have seen at LSU.
In Miles defense he stepped into a program w/ Jamarcus Russell and Matt Flynn. So, it's easy to get spoiled to that.

And the rantards here are not willing to do so. They want to win and win now, to hell with the future. (based on the fact of all the bitching about our "vanilla" offensive playcalling)

Yes, but last year was invested in Lee. For all we know he could be all world this year. Also, they did not coddle Lee. They forced him to make big time throws and far more often than not he did.
Does not look as if coaches have confidence in Jefferson's downfield ability. Based on what we have seen thus far, every team will play all 11 defensive players w/in 10 yards of line of scrimmage.

And then Lee steps in and makes a good pass last night, and what do they do?
Pull him out.
I was screaming at the TV at that moment; they should have let him try to get the first down.
And if he did, they should have let him keep going until a TD/FG/Punt... I mean come on the kid should get one drive!

Does anyone believe the staff lets the fans influence personnel decisions?

I just don't get it. As bad as Lee played last year people are still calling for him to play more. Yeah, Lee made big time throws, for the other team. Lee had all last year to show his stuff. We must now give Jefferson the same opportunity. I think more of the problem lies with coaching instead of Jefferson.

So you want them to do to Jefferson what you think they did wrong to Lee? Wow.

THANK U. Why put a new guy in every year to gain experience and learn a new offense. If you have one guy with the ability, focus on him to be effective for three or four years. Everyone on this board will want a new freshman to start qb next and the next ect...
