78 on the O-Line (I want to say Barksdale but I'm not sure and don't feel like looking it up) got repeatedly beat tonight from what I recall. Seemed like everytime I saw him his man was rounding the corner and Barksdale was turned around chasing him.

5 WR sets are not helping alleviate that pressure.

JJ is a cool customer and has kept his head for the most part, behind a line that's just not doing what's asked of it so far. I do think we need to get more passes downfield, but even if those plays get called in future games, without good protection, they won't succeed.

The O-Line is going to have to step up and give JJ some time to make defenses pay the price for stacking the box. I think they'll gel better as the season goes on and you will see this.

Ciron and the others appear to be out of sync with the QB. Something is wrong.

I'm concerned about the o-line, but at what point is it Scott's fault? Keiland seems to be able to find holes. I love Scott and I'm a huge fan of the power run game, but it just ins't there right now. There were several short yardage situations that screamed for "the bigs" and Crowton/Miles ran out of the spread. I think that says he has little faith in the line. Or Scott.

But I really do think a lot of the problems were from Vandy stacking the hell out of the box. There's no blocking scheme that can account for 11 guys within 10 yards of the line.

Our season regarding Offensive production all revolves around this O-Line.

We don't have the talent, experience, or depth of the past and we need to improve.

Everyone says C. Scott looks bad. He hasn't had the holes he had last year. I don't remember a single play this year where he got past the line of scrimmage up the middle forcing a linebacker or D-back to tackle him. K. Williams has looked better, but primarily on sweeps. He can cut better than Scott and thus we will use him more if the line does not get better.

Regardless, we are going to see plays called for Scott up the middle. Not because Miles/Crowton are stubborn, but because we have to see if we are improving. Successful teams can not win consistently without some sort of rushing attack up the middle. It doesn't have to be 100+yards/game, but it has to keep the Defense honest. Then, and only then, does play action and red zone offense have a chance to succeed.

Here's to hoping the next two games get those guys they reps they need to improve.

Otherwise, we are looking at a pretty long second half of the season.

Doug Moreau was expressing some concerns about the OL Saturday night. The OL is Les' baby. Maybe their are some communication issues.

We've got one ,two at the mosts, more 'tune ups'. I agree; the OL needs to step it up. Vanderbilt does have a good D,but the OL was getting popped a bunch, too.

It's certainly not completely Scott's fault. He and KW couldn't be more different types of runners. The O-Line was able to give Scott what he needed in the past, but hasn't really been able to do so this year. KW is a more elusive runner. He changes direction more than Scott, etc.
I think what the O-Line is providing this year, suits KW's style better then Scott's, however... if anyone thinks you are just going to change out the RB and see success, you are sadly mistaken. The offensive play calling is going to need to change to make KW successful. If there's no hole up the gut for Scott to hit, it won't be there for KW either.

We've had trouble getting the 2-3 yard pickups when we need them to keep drives alive. Until JJ starts throwing down the field, people will stack the line and force us to throw. Much of the O-line woes can be attributed to our inexperience at QB...however, our pass protection could be better and it will with some time.
