Yea, this was talked about in the other thread. Most likely has to do with avoiding the mountain passes in the Rockies.

I wonder why they are going all the way to LA and then north to Seattle? Baton Rouge, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake, Boise, Seattle is almost a straight shot. That has to be about 400 miles out of their way and with deisel prices close to $3 it's costing them close to $1200 extra to go that route. And they originally didn't want to bring the band because of economics.

Is it cheaper to drive all that stuff out there as opposed to just shipping it in a plane?

Yes. By a long shot. They'd need the entire belly of a cargo plane to haul this stuff with proper weight distribution.

Dude, how many 4 and 5 star prospects live in Denver-Salt Lake-Boise? The San Joaquin valley is loaded with good football players...LSU 1 on I-5 through Cali gets better press than driving through the land of the lost.

Even the most experienced drivers, from time to time, have to use the run-a-way 18 wheeler ramps that are built throughout the interstate system in the rockies.

Do you really want drivers, with limited experience in the mountains, to risk the LSU equipment truck just to save a few hundred $$$?

Just stopped at the Continental Divide.

I've only been to the Eastern Continental Divide...this one is probably a bit more interesting...
