I am saying that it is not anything to loose your cookies over. They don't even know if the vaccine will work or not. In any case, I won't get it just like I don't get a regular flu shot. Now that may not apply to all, but it does to me because I do not get the flu and I have never had the flu shot.
Does not mean that I won't ever get it, no, because never can say never, but Jesus Christ to get your dick twisted over catching swine flu in football stadium is insane.
I happen to be at home now for a few weeks. I am normally traveling in many many different countries licensing and designing chemical plants, so this is a bit fun for me.
Do I have HEP A and B shots? Yes. Also, typhoid, yellow fever, polio and malaria pills. Those babies are a real risk globally. Flu has no guarantees for protection even with a flu shot. It is minor for people with good immune systems and can be major for people with weakened immune systems.

Well lets see, my son is a micro biologist and I debate him all the time. Nothing wrong with debate.

So is that where you're getting this top flight information regarding HINI?

The issue here has never been about a a higher death rate for this strain...at least not yet, it's about a higher percentage of people cacthing it. It's right up your alley...numbers.

If there is far less herd immunity (and there is), than vastly more people will catch it and spread it. Assuming the same kill rate % as regular old flu (the one you don't fear), you will therefore get a substantially larger number of dead people total. Unless one assumes that THIS flu has a lower kill rate than regular flu...

Is that what you're suggesting?

Are you really stupid or just thick? I no where compared HEP A and B to a virus. I simply said that I had these along with the other immunizations because of the risk that I have with traveling.

If you ever traveled out of the shade of your back porch you would understand what the real risk are outside.

Your a Chemical Engineer. I'm a Petroleum Engineer.

That is why I have sense enough to be afraid of the unknown. Mother Nature screws me on a regular basis.

I will take you behind the woodshed about risk and statistics any day my friend.

This is true, the only people that enjoy bringing this up is the media, must sell alot of papers.

No. I paid for his education, just as I am sure someone is paying for yours.

I paid for my own education. I have a degree in chemical engineering with a minor in microbiology.

If you read my email. You can read, correct? You will see that I said it was not enough to loose your cookies over. Do what is prudent:
- Practice good hygiene.
- If you feel compelled, get a flu shot.
- Realize that its main transmission is physical contact.

Otherwise, not a damn thing you can do and worrying about it won't help.

Want to do something constructive? Write to your congressmen about the damage that Cap and Trade will do to this country. Display your concern about the debt that this administration and congress is getting this country into.

If you do not believe this true, then my advice to you is to learn to speak Chinese because they will be your boss if things continue and believe me, cash for clunkers will not fix a thing.

yes, they are, but you aren't understanding what's going on here.

we have vaccines for those that work. our bodies accept them as a vaccine.

the difference is, with H1N1, there is no vaccine that REALLY works... and our bodies aren't familiar with it, like we are familiar with other strains of different flu's.

does that make sense?

Dumbshit. The are diseases that are very serious in certain places globally.

I have those vaccines, but choose not to do flu.

PS. HEP A and B and yellow fever is viral just as flu. Typhoid is bacterial. Malaria is caused by a parasite.

+1

How many athletes in peak physical condition do you people out there think will be knocking on death's door?

If my 10-year old niece can get over it, so can a 250+ pound defensive back who has access to better-than-average health care.

Good post, Smokin...

I hope you don't catch the flu. What a pitiful sight that would be.
