So the wife and I don't watch too much tv, but we generally like to have a tv show that we can get on dvd and watch occasionally. So do you have recommendations?
Here are some tidbits....
Series we loved
6 ft under
sopranos
greg the bunny
frisky dingo
spaced
the wire
battlestar galatica
arrested development
Series we won't watch
Lost - I have heard its great but no resolution. Not interest in another twin peaks
Entourage - Unfortunately I have been outvoted here. The wife thinks its going to be a guys show.
Big love - the wife is against this one too. She doesn't like mormons.
Dexter - We watched season 1 and thought it was just ok.
weeds - didn't like saeson 1 and 2, despite my natural affinity for it.
Suggestions?
eta: going to do breaking bad for sure. And my brother told me to try jericho.

When Kings comes on dvd, pick that up.
Rescue Me, and Sons of Anarchy are awsome, also Nip/Tuck. Eastbound and Down is a great show if your like crude/racial humor

MileHigh,
First and foremost, you have excellent taste in tv. My wife and I enjoy many of the same shows you watch. I'm sure you've heard this recommendation from many people, but without question, "Breaking Bad" is the best show on television today.
Consider the source, but it's my favorite show since "Six Feet Under." In fact, I like it more.
And I didn't think I'd ever find a show I liked as much as Six Feet Under.

You're missing out! This is the best show on TV right now, and I dare say it will go down as one of the best of all time.
It remains to be seen whether there is a true resolution. The final season starts in January.

I rented the first DVD of Weeds and couldn't get into it. I really tried to, but it just wasn't that funny or interesting. I've watched a few other episodes from later season and maybe it picked up?

if long time viewers are happy with the end result, I will watch it. But i fear that its going to suck or not get resolved. And I don't want another twin peaks.

Um, no.
True Blood is nothing more than a guilty pleasure. That show is camp tv, but not good at all. I can't believe Alan Ball did True Blood, because I really liked his other work (Six Feet Under, American Beauty, etc..)

Twin Peaks wasn't revolved because it was canceled. Lost stands no chance at all of being canceled.

MileHigh,
Good deal. I'll be interested to see what you think. From the first scene in the first episode, you'll be pulled in.
One person has described the series as "Mr. Chips Turns into Scarface."
I'm such a fan of the show, I've bought the first season DVD for 5 of my friends.
You get the point... Hope you enjoy.
