My friend's grandpaw owns Coyote Blue's in Lafayette. All I can say it is excellent.

We went to the one in Lafayette and they accidentally dropped half of our order on the floor. Instead of fixing that half, they redid our entire order (and they already delivered the successful first half). We walked out with more to go boxes than we had people. They were very great about it.

Don't worry-shouldn't be competition for your deli.

Serranos claim to fame is that they have more sipping tequilas than any place in Baton Rouge.

Most Mexicans will stick to 1800, Cazadores and Patron (in that order).

They are unlike any other Mexican place in BR. The food is cajun-mexican. You can order shrimp quesadillas or crawfish chimichanga. Amazing food, cannot wait for it to open.

Would MUCH prefer CB to any other Mexican food already in BR.

they actually have a much more extensive menu than Mestizos..it is not nearly as much cajun mex as they are ... and from what I recall from CB.. the prices are better than mestizos.. like Mestizos every now & then.. will got to CB probably first (unless they have a long wait which is probable for a while) if looking for Mex when they open.

I'm right down the street (from both I guess), when is Coyote Blues supposed to open up? I drove by today and it looked like there was still some construction going on.

Corn grits are out of this world. I think they are supposed to be opening on the 24th. Close friends with family members of one of the owners.
