I kind of like them. They'll look a lot better with logos.

Yes they are much better for protection but they also have a couple of other practical advantages.

The ear pcs. air up so they can be easily sized and they won't come out in the game.

The face mask is also easier to change or remove in a medical emergency.

They aren't that new. The ones Ford and Allen had on came out last year but Revolutions have been around for a few years. I remember noticing Florida as one of the first teams with players wearing them but now every one from the pros to pop warner use them. Its all about player preference. Iowa is really the only team I've seen where every player wears one. Maybe Florida too, but I haven't paid that close attention to it.I loved them in high school though, and everyone wanted one. They are a little more expensive than a regular helmet, but are really comfortable and lighter, I found than a standard helmet.
