to be a Game Changer?

I think I understood Miles in that he'll get a handful per game <10 and I think that is just enough.

Depends on the opposition.

Florida and Alabama = 15-20.
Arkansas, MSU, Ole Miss, Vandy, Georgia, Auburn=10
Washington, Tulane, ULL, Louisiana Tech=3

He will never get near that many touches.

He'll be lucky to average 6-8 legitimate touches a game.

i really don't know, but him, jeff, keiland in the same backfield with Lefel Toliver and Randal on the corners kind of gives me a boner.(in a heterosexual kinda way.

I’m guessing that Russell Shepard will get anywhere from 5 to 10 plays a game depending on the opponent.

I’d like to see RS run that option play we run out of the pistol formation. The same play that we ran against VT when KW made that spectacular long run for a touchdown in 2007. That should give defenses a few fits. I mean who do you key on, RS or KW.

Last year that play didn’t work because JL was no threat to run, but this year with JJ and RS, that play should be big this year for both KW and RM. I can hardly wait.

If RS tears it up out there, then his touches are only going to increase. There is no telling how many touches he is going to get.

i say he averages 2 touches a game for the season, and he can still be a game changer with that.

Wouldn't be surprised if he doesnt get any touches at all against Washington....don't show anything and save him for Vanderbilt.

Imo, it all depends on whether and how much he can demonstrate the ability to realiably handle passing situations. We all saw how RP handled the ball when he started getting opportunities to pass, and yet he still almost never got to throw the ball until his 3rd year as a RS Sophomore. If they wouldn't even let RP throw the ball any meaningful amount as a RS Freshman, it seems it would take an incredible performance in practice and in camp for the staff to let Shepard throw it much as a true freshman. And I really believe that to be a true game changer there has to be the threat of him passing the ball. If all he's going to do is run it, then he really isn't going to be much more of a threat than Keiland or Scott or Murphy or any of our other playmakers. But if they do let him become a legit threat throwing the ball (and he can handle it at the SEC level), then he could be a true game changer with just 5 or 6 touches (maybe 8-10 snaps) per game.

The question mark in my mind is Crowton. Jimbo was the OC when Perrilloux was a FR and a RS FR, so maybe it was his call and not Miles' to keep him away from almost all passing situations. Crowton may be more willing to take the chance with a true freshman, if it is up to the OC and not Miles.

Good post, I think if he throws it will mostly be like McFadden or Tebow his freshman year. He will come in and run 80% of the time but you have to guard against the 1 in 5 plays that he will throw it.

Miles needs to finally utilize his weapons and let these guys be plays and have an impact on the game. He waits too long on freshmen sometime. Harvin surely wasn't riding pine at UF...
