The guy is a special teams demon, but I just don't know if he's big enough and fast enough to be an above average starting WLB in the NFL.

Thoughts?

I would have thought it would have happened by now, but in all honesty Shanle is a solid LB and hasnt played all that bad.

If you enjoy watching a LB see where the play is going, runs to it ahead of time, then ends up 5 yards behind his target because hes too slow.

Actually I see Dan Morgan staying healthy for once and taking Shanle's place.

Oh wait....

Personally, I would like to see anyone take Shanle's spot.

Of course TD is the place where only sports genius' reside, home of the Shanle apologists, where Scott Shanle is a fricking Hall of Famer. I have mentioned this exact point previously, and was attacked with a barrage of people who love Shanle.

Newsflash dumbshits - Shanle is nothing better than a special teamer. That is what he was in Dallas before we traded a 7th rounder for him when we were completely berift of talent on defense when Payton got here.

Regardless of your view of Shanle, we need to badly upgrade this position. If we don't he will get smoked all season . . . . just like last year and the year before.

Shanle really isnt THAT bad. People say he sucks so bad. He might not put up 100 tackles a year, but who does besides the allstar calibar players. I've watched closely to what Shanle does at LB and I've seen some great solo tackles hes made. Hes missed some as well, but who hasnt done that either.

Jo-Lonn Dunbar is just tooooo slow to play OLB in the NFL. Hes got great instincts, but he would just kill our defense if he started. He did have a nice hit against Minnesota on the Reggie Bush punt return.
fricking Classic.....

at the 0:26 mark....HILARIOUS

average LB with average atletic ability, they need someone in that position that can fly around and make plays, that is not Shanle. signing Brooks to a 1 year might not be a bad idea, if he isn't signed already, at 36 Brooks still gets to the ball faster than a Shanle.

Shanle is solid and has done a very solid job for the past few years. I dont see Dunbar taking his spot anytime soon.

Shanle is not solid, I really don't know what you guys are lookin at, he is a liability, Fujita is solid, nothing special, but he plays consistently. Shanle needs to be replaced.

Mediocre replacing mediocre is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know if you can say Dunbar is mediocre or not though. We really haven't seen enough of him to know if he will be great, mediocre or aweful. I'd still like to see him get a chance.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. Maybe rotate Shanle and Dunbar a little more and see who performs better. I just think in the end you'll have 2 guys who aren't terrible but don't belong on a championship-contending defense.
