No bias of course, but it certainly appeared to me that the strike zone was bigger for Jungman that for LSU's pitchers. They wouldn't give LSU the corners especially when the pitches were low on the outside of the plate.

Because of this, Ross had to go more to the middle of the plate and they were tagging him. It also happened to Coleman in game 1. Meanwhile, Jungman was getting ahead of our hitters with low, outside pitches that were very questionable strikes. The whole process made it easier on Texas hitters and more difficult on LSU batters.

While I am at it, how about half swings! The appeals against Texas were always rejected, while LSU was being called for "going around". Again, LSU hitters were getting in the hole, while Texas hitters were getting ahead in the count.

All that being said, I don't think LSU offense played well enough to win, but I do think Texas was getting an edge.

That's all very interesting, I wonder why no one else noticed it.

i only saw one "half swing" that was questionable. forget who but his wrist never broke. don't know if he went past the front of home plate but the bat never even came close to be pararell with it.

He had a pretty consistent strikezone, IMO, with the exception of the low part. When it went low, it was pretty much a toss up in how he was going to call it.

I don't think the umps calls favored a particular side.

Bottom line: Ross dug us a hole. Cain and Bradshaw were every bit as brilliant as Jungmann.

Our starting pitchers have dug us a hole the last two games. If Ranaudo has a decent night, we win.

If we have to go to the pen before the 5th, we're fricked.

Hey phsyco, read the other posting, many of us noticed the first pitch bias that control the batter's situation. He expanded the zone (especially the low and outside for TX on the first pitch) in order to put our guys in the hole.

I noticed it too. My grandpa and I have been watching the series together and it has appeared this way in both games. My grandpa played triple A ball, ill trust his word. I saw several questionable outside pitches called strikes. I saw several pitches put in the same spot that werent called the same way. Im not saying we lost because of this, but i think the strike zone for us has been shite.

i pitched in high school and can tell you when you are consistent and hit your spots the umpire will tend to give you 2-5 inches off the plate on either side especially if the catcher sets up out there...the texas pitchers have hit their spots therefore get the calls..the lsu pitchers however have sturggles a little bit with control (Ross walking the first batter of the game on four pitches) and therefore have not gotten the calls...stop whining and bitching and hope ranaudo goes out there tonight on his A game so we can get those calls.

Okay man no excuses. Its baseball. Sometimes the ump will call things different. It is as much a part of baseball as the baseball. We got shut down last night, end of story.

That said,

Sorry, I didn't see the other post. At least this confirms that I wasn't the only one to see it.

Taylor Jungmann screwed LSU. He threw the game of his life and made it look easy.

Yeah, that a-hole was totally biased in Texas' favor too. Someone call the NCAA about this nonsense.

I forgot about the check swings. I think it was LeMahieu that got screwed on one late.

I was just about to post that. If you can consistantly hit spots, youre going to get the calls. Ross was all over the place and never threw the same pitch twice. Jungmann (sp.) was hitting spots.

Yes he did! Good for him, no ill will from me for that...

No, the UMP made it look easy by readily giving him the low/outside called strike on several first pitches... which would have been accecptable had that call be consistent, which it never was

I am NOT saying that this issue was the BIG DIFFERENCE in the game, but it was there, and should be able to be discussed without people getting all pissy about it. It would still be wrong, even if we'd WON the game....
