Don't know if this was posted yet, but yesterday LSU-E beat Western Oklahoma 21-11 to move into the winners bracket of the d2 juco world series.
The MSB might be interested to know that the star player of Western Oklahoma is Danny Almonte, yes that Danny Almonte from the Little League World Series hall of shame.
I always felt bad for Almonte as he was clearly pulled in mulitple directions by people who had no business working with children. It sounds like he has finally settled himself and is in position to get drafted as a hitter.
For the year he is hitting .485 with 17 HR and 75 RBI's. He is also 8-0 on the mound but his fastball peaked and he only throws in the mid to high 80's.
Again, good to see that he got back in the game the right way and that he has a chance.
congrats to LSU-E for getting closer to the championship

any major college offers? What about his draft stock?
I assume his age could hurt him.

He was born in 1987 so he is right up there with other guys who are coming out this year.
as far as d1 offers, I think he played on a team that made him ineligible to take the NCAA route but I could be wrong.

oh, so he's draft eligible right now? then yeah, 22 isn't terrible.

i read an article recently that said his MLB stock really isnt that high, mainly because of his age

from Wikipedia:
"On April 27, 2001, shortly after his 17th birthday, (Taran Noah) Smith married Heidi van Pelt, who was sixteen years his senior."
