I read that Cure was a good old fashion bar uptown Nola. has anyone been there, and it is worth the trip. I have today off, so I was pondering in paying this place a visit.

Uber-cool (and not in a good way). It's the kind of place that is all too aware of its coolness.

If you can look past this, it's a pretty interesting place.

i find it really corny and forced, but to each their own.

I've only been once, and it was sort of mid evening in the middle of the week.

Got a charcuterie plate, and got a kick out of watching the bartender (although, I think he said he didn't want to be called that) take making drinks REALLY seriously.

Thought the food and drinks were both good, though.

If you can go and have a sense of humor, and not take them taking hemselves seriously, too seriously, like I said, it can be an interesting place.

What kind of bar or atmosphere are you looking for?
I love just going off and exploring new bars and restaurants and such when I am off on Fridays.

honestly, something new where they actually do take pride in making their drinks, instead of the normal bar guns, and can soda's. Plus I have only had them once, but I wouldn't mind exploring Sazarac's

If you are going during the day, just hit up the Napoleon House or Erin Rose. They will have some action around during the day and they can sling pretty good drinks.

I agree with y.a.'s assessment.

You can kill an afternoon at the tujaques bar as well. Or columns.

I'd much rather the columns than cure. I've been to cure about 5-6 times and i just didn't enjoy it.

If any of ya'll are looking for a pretty cool little spot to try some kick arse drinks, try the bar that is attached to Cork and Bottle Wine Shop in Mid City. They call the place Clever, which I think is stupid, but they are pretty serious with their cocktails and the prices are pretty good at around $8 or $9 for a nice cup.
I think they have some small musical acts from time to time.

I'm a big fan of French 75 (the relatively new Arnaud's bar).
