for people saying collins, based on what? three games? c'mon, give me a break. there have been plenty of average running bacls have a good three games. collins was good and showed potential, but there's no way to prove that he would have actually produced given a full season to do so. faulk PROVED himself to be an all-time great back and should be an absolute no-brainer

Faulk... I am thinking Cecil is still in stripes or watching chicks sleep.

in fairness Cecil had a few 100 yard+ games with the fish before getting busted.

not so much, he had about 400 yards in 8 games for the dolphins

false.
collins never had a 100 yard game in the pros, and had a terrible yards per carry average in his 8 game career....3.2 yards per carry. Faulk on the other hand has averaged over 4 yards for over a decade. Collins also only got a terrible 5 yards per catch compared to 8 for Faulk.
Collins is THE most overrated athlete in LSU history.

oh well
for some reason I thought I remembered him starting out really slow and then coming on towards the end of the season and then of course getting busted.

well, he did well enough to earn the starting job before getting hurt, but no, he never had any big breakout game or anything.

What a goofy question... Faulk... the only possible answer... that is, for those that have ANY freakin' brains, and/or are not in prison... sheesh...

Collins and it's not even close.
Had the Vandy injury never happened on that god-awful turf, Faulk would have been #2 and Mealey would have been Kendall Cleveland.
Funny season, though...3 different RB's with a 200 yard game.

Who you gonna pick in pickup game?
not very far from the "who would you pick in a bar fight?"
of course every ones answer is mike tyson at the age of 20 (or however old he was in his prime).
that being said? in his prime?....collins, without a doubt

Yes he would have.
Miss State and Auburn would not agree with you. Miss State couldn't stop him when he had one shoe on. Auburn's secondary was scared to tackle him. He was going to be a SPECIAL back.

FWIW, I am not going by the "pickup game" standards. I'm going by who was a better college RB. Faulk is the best ever at LSU. He was a broken fibula away from being 2nd all-time.

Faulk out performed him @ LSU & in the NFL

Everyone always mentions the AU and MSU games when talking about Collins, did Faulk not play well against them. I thought so. I'd take Faulk everyday. Should have his # retired at LSU after he is done playing in the NFL.

You've got to be kidding me. Granted Cecil's career and our glimpse of him was short, but if you're talking a "pickup game", Cecil has got to be the choice here. He was absolutely unstoppable, other than that broken leg and breaking into chick's apartment thing

i pick the most talented running back i've ever seen play for LSU....the Diesel
....but it was close because Faulk was so dam productive and consistent for 4 years and he was an excellent kick returner for us....i remember watching him pretty much single handedly bring LSU back from a 34-7 deficit against Houston to beat them 35-34...with dazzling kick returns and long runs
....but Cecil was in another dimension as far as talent goes...he had the size, speed, break-away ability, toughness....kind of reminded me of Bo Jackson...ran like a run-away truck that defenders were almost afraid to get in the way of....had all the talent to become an All-Pro in the NFL...

I'll jack this thread and take neither. Hilliard= best back ever to play at LSU. Look at the production. Over 4,000 yards during his career while his running mate(James who was there the same 4 years) rushed for over 2,000 yards himself.

Just remember that in a pickup game you gotta face whomever you don't pick. I'd rather face Faulk, so I'd pick Collins.
