As long as they keep making the best chocolate coconut king cake in the world, they'll keep getting my dollars every parade season.

I've never had a problem there; Where do you go? I like Cake Palace.

I agree that their quality is good, but only if they can ever get your order right.

I know the owner used to lurk on here, so I don't want to go into too much detail... but we ordered 5 of something and they had 0. My mom even had the receipt to confirm the order. And apparently she wasn't the only one in there having problems with her order.

This is where we usually go, as well... but my mom was bringing these items to someone out of town per their specific request.

i've heard on this board where some people were treated rudely, but it's never happened to me and i go there a good bit...my complaint about the place though is that they have a ton of employees working but they all look to be in a state of confusion, and it's like trying to buy an airline ticket getting your purchase rung up behind the bakery counter it takes so long.

My mom said the owner or manager, whoever he is, was nice enough and made sure she knew it was the employee's fault who took the order.

Got to love a business owner that throws their employees under the bus. Wonder how the other employees liked hearing the sellout?

yeah, if i ever placed an order at ambrosia for something, i'd definitely place it with the owner or manager to try and help lessen the chances of a screw up.

But we (including me) will all watch Gordon Ramsey verbally berate everyone of those poor sons o' bitches.

edit: that was supposed to be funny, not serious in my professional voice.

People rave about their fresh strawberry cake, but I've never cared for it. Just yellow cake, cool whip, and strawberries at a heightened price.

However, I have had several other cakes (petit-fours, etc.) that were excellent. They had some that were white cake with a chocolate frosting and raspberry or blackberry filling that were excellent.

I have seen the people at Ambrosia and at the Cake Palace decorate cakes using bulk-purchased icing. I refuse to buy cakes from anybody who uses icing out of a 5-gallon bucket.

I went to a birthday party one day a few months ago. The cake was made by a local lady named Mary Aycock (it was sooo damn good that I wrote her name down for later reference). All fresh, homemade and very, very delicous!

I know her. I didn't know she made cakes...
