Why can we beat UNC?

Acceptable answers do not include:
1) We can't. Keep it to yourself
2) We should be focusing on Butler. I don't play for the team, so I can focus on whatever I want.
Anyway, what have you seen from LSU and/or UNC that makes you think we could potentially beat them and contain Hansborough. I think Temple can shut down Lawson; maybe we can win even if Tyler gets his 30 points?

Have to shoot tremendously well & take advantage in the open court of fast breaks.
UNC doesn't play defense.

I thought we play Butler first?

We don't know the extent of Lawson's injury. If he's banged up, it could really hurt UNC. The Heels haven't looked so hot when Lawson doesn't play.

LSU Lightening strikes the ACC again (re: LSU-Duke)

That will be the major problem. He'll rape CJ.

More than likely Spencer will be on Lawson. Temple will probably get Green.

That's been Trent's philosophy all year. Man up on the post and if he gets his points, fine. But don't let the other guys beat you.
It's possible to beat UNC, but unlikely. It'll take a flawless game by LSU and some help from UNC.

If Lawson is out we may have a slight chance. Stopping Hansbrough will be tough the way big men have thrashed us lately. Thornton would have to be hot, Spencer would have to hit some key 3s, and Tasmin would have to have a great game. We would also have to count on Martin to come in and hit some shots, Temple to score, and QT to log some key minutes against Hansbrough, because we will run into foul trouble guarding him.

Damn Chicken you beat me to it :-)

Lawson is the key. I would say Temple should guard him, but his quickness may cause foul trouble and we want Temple on Ellington anyway, hes a big scorer. To me, thats the biggest problem. We can keep the philosophy of letting Hansborough score but how do we contain Lawson, Ellington, and Green. We will have to shoot exremely well and EVERYONE will have step it up big on D. It'll be tough

Pick your poison, Ellington or Green. Ellington averages 2 more points a game, but Green is a little bigger and a better 3 pt shooter. Thornton gets one and Temple gets the other.

This is exactly the problem. We need Temple on 3 guys but he can only be on one......trouble

when do you put out your pre-season BCS ?

They have to get hot from beyond the arc
They can't try and run with UNC

We need to shoot better than 30%. If we can't do that, we won't stand a chance.

But I heard water coves 70% of earth and GT covers the other 30%. Surely he can cover 3 guys within a 30 foot radius

Thats extremely generous. Id bet money that we could shoot 35% and be embarassed. UNC is on another level. We're gonna have to be flat-out hot!

It is a basketball game anything can happen. I am going to put a disclaimer on this by first saying UNC in Greensboro, is probably the worst matchup in the entire field for us in probably the worst location. That said, there are some things that can happen. First of all Taz and Thornton have to play absolutely lights out, both need at least 20 and at least 50 between the 2 of them IMO. Temple is going to have to lock Lawson down. This is where it gets dicey. I think we are going to need to put Quinton Thornton in. He is going to need to stay in until he fouls out (hopefully playing most of the game in the process). He really is the only guy I look at for us that I want to send in there to bang with UNC's bigs. Chris Johnson will get ragdolled if he plays the entire game. I'm hoping he gets some spot work.
