I've lived here 9 years and I've yet to have a really great poboy. I remember Erdie's (in Albany) being pretty good, but I haven't been there in years.
Crazy Pig is really the only "poboy" place in Hammond that I can think of. The French Fry poboy from there used to be pretty good.
Hi-Ho is delish. 2 heavy with cheese, please.

Hi-Ho will be served in heaven. As far as a Po Boy goes. Erdeys (Now called the Sandwich Shop) makes some mean Po Boys. Also if you do go to Erdeys make sure and get "Tater Babies and Cheese"

back when i lived in hammond there was a place called louisiana gold. great poboys. it was across the street from tommy's pizza on wardline road. was awesome.

now me and wife still go to mariners to get a good burger and i guess relive old times.

IMO Mariners is the best burger but you have to put up with the slow service and prep time. (I also havent been there in a year or so)
Actually try Lee's Diner.... good prices I know you said po-boys but Lee's chicken fried steak is great.

That was my lunch spot when I went to SLU. Was great when the Lions had a afternoon game. Al's and beer by the fence.
