dash, I forgot about that one. Rooks & Co. were very good, and they couldn't do anything with the Big Diesel

#1 easily: UK 1978 with them coming in #1 and we go to OT with all 5 starters fouled out. You had to be there. I was in the band and it was the first time Pregame was ever played at a basketball game. The Assembly Center was off-the-charts ape and that was the night the Deaf Dome was born.
#2: Loyola Marymount. Fast-break ball at its best!
#3: Georgetown in the dome.
#4: '86 UK in the regional final. We were 0-3 against them but won the one that mattered. The GA Tech game before that one was real good, too.
#5: Purdue in double OT. Either '85 or '86 when Henderson (or Anthony Wilson?) hit the game winner in the first round. Keady would've choked a bitch if one had been handy.
I don't know after that but the MSU game this year at their place and today's win have got to be in he top 20.

same year Final Four run
Anthony Wilson hit the game winner against Memphis State which was the game after Purdue.
Don't remember to much about that Purdue game (young) other than Don Redden (RIP) save our arse a few times that game.

Thanks for the clarification. It was a long time ago and my bong was handy. '86 was such a fun run and for those who weren't around...well, y'all just missed out on a most improbable run. It was more ludicrous than 2006.
As a sidenote, it was probably because of our wins in the first two rounds of the tourney that host teams are no longer allowed to play at home.

Bingo, but as Dale Brown pointed out our reward was to play GA Tech in Atlanta.

shaq vs. arizona twin towers, stro' beating uk at pmac, and the duke game for me.

I think the win over Duke with Reddick crying was the best ever.....

Clearly, this one is a generational question.
Anyone who was at the Loyla-Marymount game or the UNLV games (as I was) would tell you in a heartbeat that yesterday's game doesn't even come close.
If you are in school now (18-22 years old), though, you might be pretty impressed with yesterday's game.

this LSU vs. KU victory is huge. I remember the 30pt nightmare.
new Coach = big step in right direction, I have hope now.
that's not orginial, everyone wants to beat DUKE.

wasnt there a game earlier that same season where Loyola Marymount scored almost 200 points? Their opponent scored like 180...
The good ol' days.

Here it is is:
Damn. That was like 3 weeks before we played them.
ETA nevermind; we played them in 1990.

The Red Raiders didn't break the Division I NCAA record for most points in a game. That honor goes to Loyola Marymount, which defeated U.S. Int'l 186-140 Jan. 5, 1991.

That game was I of the fastest paced game I have ever witness.
It was freaking crazy to see that in person - truly. For that time period, the UNLV games (both '89 and '90) were amazing too. It was a real privilege to see Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Greg Anthony, etc.
But I think all of the March Madness wins in '86-'87 are way above yesterday's victory (great as it was).

I remember Tarkenium (however you spell it) was so disgusted after losing 2 years in a row to LSU he vowed never to play another "meaningless game against LSU". LOL All it did was drop him in the rankings slightly both years.

I was at both UNLV and Loyola, they were truly awesome but not #1.
#1 was, believe it or not, a women's preseason game. Texas (the year after their undefeated title season in 85) vs. the USSR (Olympic gold medalists for about a gazillion years). At Texas and down to the wire all the way. Like watching Rocky but for real.
