Kiffin has the QB he really wanted from Louisiana. I also think Houston is more college ready. Haven looks a bit raw and will need time to develop

I didn’t get why Haven wasn’t getting pushed by LSU, was there a bad relationship with BK or were there other guys who were higher on the target list?

I think once Houston committed that BK decided that was enough.
Kiffin is happy with Houston too.
Maybe Haven wanted more money or whatever and Kiffin didn't think this was the year for it.

LK is probably focused on bringing in guys who can win games asap via the portal.
It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out because LK is used to building via the portal out of necessity whereas Bama is still mostly HS recruiting driven from a roster standpoint.
I suspect once Lane gets a solid base of guys he thinks he can win now with he’ll realize he has the resources to sign the elite HS guys too he could never touch at OM and probably balance things out a bit.

That would have demanded a ton in NIL money while Pop Houston won’t play for free but he will allow us to sign some talent that would have been tied up with Havens demands otherwise

Maybe a little of that, but I think the prior staff was happy with Houston and didn't want to wait on Haven, and Kiffin was comfortable with that assessment.
The recruiting services are hard on Houston because he's shorter, but he's the best QB in Louisiana right now.

It's as simple as you put a grade on a player when it comes to money worth. Whatever Haven is asking LSU is not willing to throw it on the table because they probably think he's worth the number he wants. Probably as simple as that.

The recruiting services rated him 5 stars because in tenth grade he was already 6-5. Houston is just below 6-0 so the services don’t like him.
