my son and his girlfriend have both found jobs in Chattanooga.
the have found a home to rent they love in the Ridgedale area.
they would like some opinions on this area.
any feedback is appreciated.

Just looking at the street views, looks a little bit hood, but there is probably some gentrification going on. Mccallie is in Ridgedale, one of the best private boarding schools in the southeast, so there's that.

I think that is a church over by the 153 merge. Might want to check the name.

I don't think I have heard either area referred to as Ridgedale. I always just say McCallie is on the base of the Missionary Ridge or on Dodds.

Yeah I wouldn't live in that area. Main Street is gentrifying slowly though.

Neighborhood is nice, surrounding area isn't so nice. They do a solid job of separating the two so it's a solid spot.

both just graduated from Ms. state with one being surgical vet and other data analyst.

It's a very mixed income area that is going through some gentrification. Rough area mixed with whatever urban dwelling hipsters are called now moving in.

I gotcha, its a small , kinda unremarkable area, so I can see why people wouldn't refer to it as a specific area.

McCallie is at the base of the ridge and kinda in the hood itself.

Which is considered the better boarding school there, though, that or Baylor, where Peyton Manning's kid is? I know Baylor is co-ed and McCallie is all boys.

they should drive the neighborhood on a Fri/Sat night to see what they would be getting themselves into. I looked on the map of that street and see a couple of new places surrounded by what looks like typical low-income housing with a ton of Nissan Altimas with blacked out windows.

We live in Red Bank and love it. Close to North Shore where there are plenty of bars and restaurants (Pizza Bros and Tremont Tavern are my go to for food and beer). If you want to go downtown, you’re still less than 5-10 minutes from it. I recommend living on the north side of the river (just my opinion), but if you were to live on the other side, I’d recommend St. Elmo - it was once hood, but it’s mostly young, white families. Signal Mountain and Lookout are where you want to move to when you get older, not necessarily for young people.
