LIV: Smash GC is rebranding to OKGC

Oklahoma is officially on the LIV Golf map. Smash GC is rebranding to OKGC, establishing Oklahoma as the team’s home market and becoming the first LIV Golf franchise directly aligned with a U.S. market.
Oklahoma native and OSU alum @TalorGooch will lead the team into its debut as OKGC during the 2026 season.

This seems about as sincere as how the TGL teams have city affiliations. Maybe it’s even worse in TGL since every match is in South Florida.

This is like that period when eSports teams tried branding to geographic markets. Turned out that regional loyalty was hard to come by with teams of exclusively Chinese and Koreans playing everything out of a small concert hall somewhere in Southern California

Exactly. Why even entertain the idea of having markets tied to these team names?
It's not like they are training in these cities/states or have dedicated "home" matches. Do they actually think people in Oklahoma are going to feel more attached it OKGC now even though it will never actually have anything to do with Oklahoma?
