What kind of advice are you looking for?
I will be there in about 10 days.

For about $25 a day you can get a hop on hop off water/bus pass and visit all the surrounding islands. Once you figure out the system it is quick efficient and cheap. Take note, these boats move pretty quick at stops have your shite ready to go and get on and off quickly

Throw out the paper map if you get one. Locate your destination on Google or Apple maps but don't try to follow it. Download a compass on your phone, and when you the map says turn right go east, turn left go west, etc... You'll be driven crazy trying to find the "street" name sign because it will be a an old ceramic tile plaque about 25' up on the corner of an old building. And the street you've been looking for...that's the 30-inch wide alley that goes about 3 buildings deep. The fun is all in the confusion and what you'll discover next!

Rons if great wine bars serving cichetti in the northwest quadrant which is the old Jewish ghetto. Also bar All’Arco, Cantina di Moro, and Al Merca. Gelateria Nico.

Love Venice. But get out of St. Marks, which is beautiful but don’t spend money around there.

Stayed here in 2024. Was in an excellent location. Close enough to the sights but away from the crowds. It's a small place but the service was great.
Easy access to the water taxis.
Near the museums (Guggenheim, etc)
Hotel Pensione Accademia

I haven’t been there in 15 years, but the best advice is to get off of the main tourist routes. Get lost. Explore neighborhoods where locals live and work. A lady and I were out taking photos and ended up in a small piazza with nothing but locals: people shopping, walking dogs, kids playing, etc. it was absolutely charming. There was a little trattoria where we had a glass or two of wine and some pasta and people watched. It was my best night in Venice.

TL;dr: Get off the beaten path. It’s an island. You can’t get that lost.
