Spirit Airlines could liquidate as early as this week, according to people familiar with the matter. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss matters that had not yet been made public.

Glad that I fly private or at worst first class. I wonder if Spirit will charge passengers a cancellation fee when they shut down and cancel their flights?

They will probably just move over to Frontier and Southwest.

We need to implement a minimum credit score in order to pass through TSA.

That would automatically eliminate the trash that causes 99.99% of the issues.

Contrary to popular belief, Frontier is even worse than spirit.

I flew Spirit once to go to a bachelor party since it was so cheap. I wish I would have drove the 9 hours instead. Felt like I was in the DMV.

I don't know how they've stayed in operation this long

Southwest is not really a value or discount airline anymore. It costs just as much as everything else.

I've never had any issues with Spirit flights. Disappointing news. They're super cheap and get me to my destination no problem. I've been on 5 or 7 in the last 3 years.

I like their pricing model honestly..

I booked a flight to Boston and added the features that were important to me. I dont want a Stroopwaffel or peanuts. Plane took off, landed, and my bags went with it. Thats all I ask for.

Mainstream airlines charge more then tell you all the wonderful things that that price includes (wifi, etc) that either dont work or I dont use anyway

Wonder if Spirit will do this? LINK to short news item

A guy I worked with and his wife flew to the Bahamas on Eastern Airlines and the next day Eastern went out of business. He said it took him 3 days to get a return flight on another carrier.

quote:

Eastern Airlines closed so suddenly in 1991 that thousands of passengers and crew were left stranded across the country as their connecting flights, or return flights, were suddenly cancelled.
