...Live look at how out of hand our government has gotten in recent years.

The few years of surpluses (Late 90's early 00's) are forming a middle finger on the chart.

It’s our money.
They control it.
They really don’t care……your graph is proof.

I have considered myself an independent for a while now, with this being a primary reason. We no longer have a real Republican party. One of my biggest wants from my government is to spend less than we make. Trump is the biggest violator of this, but there is plenty of blame to share. This graph is a good visual.

The interest on our debt is a serious concern. Nobody in Washington has a pair.

Presidents don't control spending, the House does.

Give Clinton credit for working with Congress and not running up deficit for 3 years. Looks like Dubya was doing same, then 9/11 hit. I wonder what could have been if that did not occur.

Obama was a freaking shitstain to our debt and Trump was trending the wrong way before Covid.

I think a reasonable argument can be made that bin Laden succeeded in mortally wounding the United States on 9/11/2001. From the erosion of civil liberties to the advent of Forever War, that day fundamentally, and negatively, changed America.

Now add in what party controlled the house and senate and show that on the graph also.

Both parties spend recklessly. I just vote for republicans because they don’t gaslight me about transgenderism while they’re doing it.

From a fiscal standpoint we haven’t had one since Eisenhower. Reagan had a great economy but no balanced budgets for Republican presidents since 1960s. Crazy fact.

Biden admin was the worst financial admin in history and it isn’t close. Trump’s admin clearly has zero desire to run a surplus. Kicking the can.

You can’t spend at these levels of GDP forever, keep taxes low & just hope productivity goes nuts to cover the future bills and deliver outsized growth.

you people love to out yourself for not understanding how the federal government spends money. Trump couldn't get money to build the wall but somehow he's the one spending the money.

Jfc I just pulled a chart off of Bloomberg to highlight deficits by year.

If you reread the OP again I said "our government".. I never tried to single out presidents.
