First this shifting of the infield leaving huge slots open just doesn’t work. The payoffs are very view. JJ may as well learn Milan cannot cover the whole infield just because you shift him, just not going to happen. JJ get back to good basic baseball that won you 2 championships. Second, catching behind the plate needs to improve. Way too many misses. Third we have 2 maybe 3 really good pitchers, so some work needs to be done. JJ go back to basics, that will get you back to a winning program.

We did dumb shifts in our championship years as well.

It works all the time. Y'all just either don't notice or don't remember.

When it doesn't work, it does look bad though.

Why are people still getting all bent out of shape with this years team,it ain’t going to improve.JJs will have to fix it in the offseason, the players aren’t here this year.JJ is the best coach in the country and is just having a bad year, get a grip.

The shifts are about batter analytics. If the tendencies justify moving more players where he excessively hits the ball then that’s what we’ll do. The rules still allow it.

Does it always work? No.

They are shifting more because they are hoping for the ball to be hit to Milam.

What if I told you the teams that won 2 championships also shifted?

It works for players that have been taught, and learned how to hit the opposite way. I know it depends on the pitch, but it's not impossible.

Yeah. If it didn't work a majority of the time then teams would never use it. There is a reason its used, and the reasons are backed by facts.

The problem is, people who are just looking for a reason to bitch are silent when it works and them come out of the wood works the times it doesn't.

You shift infield, batter shifts stance. Even a little league coach can tell you how to place the ball where you want it. Good example just happen in bottom of the 6th inning. Ole Miss sends it right past Milan who has shifted to second base. Nuf said

One more time could not turn the double play because of the shift. Second out in bottom of the 6th

I’d like to see the data.

BA with a shift vs without a shift.
