If they are charging to pass through the strait Trump looks like a buffoon in my opinion.

Maybe some Gulf States were OK with this so they could sell their oil?

This was all a show. This allows the remaining regime to feel like they've won.
And it allows Trump to say he set back Iran's military and tech another 10-20 years. When in reality this was yet another weapon's demonstration to sell more weapons to Europe.
People really don't know how deep the MIC hooks are. The MIC gets what it wants.

Trump wants the 2 week reprieve to get as many oil tankers thru the straight as possible so the oil can hit the market. Then he will tell Rute or whatever his name is that the NATO countries better work to keep it open or the US is stepping back from NATO. Gives time to make NATO and the GC countries unite.

Trump will always say whatever the frick he wants, regardless of reality
China and/or Russia and North Korea will have them back up to speed much sooner.
