Interesting theory on TV show length for cable vs streaming

I quite enjoy Mr. Brown in his shows and in most interviews ive seen. He and his wife are cool Hollywood couple.

The vast majority of new content, 95% I'd say, doesn't interest me at all. Thus, I'd rather more episodes of the shows I do like as long as the quality didn't slip, but I understand that's not going to happen.

Seems like a lot of streaming series have built in spots for where commercials could be including many that are like 20 and 40 min episodes. And if it could get shown on something like Hulu with ads seems like that would lead to more episodes if the theory holds.

What aggravates me the most are the Amazon series where S1 is free on Prime, but in order to watch S2 and beyond, you have to subscribe to some obscure service for an extra $5 / month. Pisses me off.

My immediate question would be, how do you find the balance between more episodes for longer season, but also not having unnecessary filler that will often times turn off viewers for the sake of having longer seasons.

I don't like shiny new things. I want more of something familiar.
F a bunch of new shows that will only have a season or two. Keep developing characters and stories that I'm interested in.
I want HBO from 2005 when The Wire, The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Rome, Entourage, Carnivàle, Real Sex and Hard Knocks were all running.
Screw these current one show a week that's worth watching days.

I wish he would star in some prestigious flicks with elite directors. I feel like he could be this generations Denzell even though he's already 49.

Hes very intelligent and appears so in interviews. Undergrad at Stanford and Masters from NYU.
