Falcons on hook for $8.7 Million for Kirk Cousins in 2026 despite him signing with the Raiders.

The Autumn Wind is a Raider, pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down
And laugh when he's conquered and won.

I see no issue, Falcons screwed him over by drafting Penix after signing him.

His agent is a legend for the amount of money he has fanaggled out of nfl teams over the years.

May be a stupid question but do Raiders still go QB @ #1 with Kurt signing a 5 year deal?

lol at the delusional arse Carr brothers hinting a few months back that Derek would consider coming out of retirement for a trade to the silver and black.

Raiders were like “naw, we’re good”.

There is no way they signed him to a 5 year deal.

Yea its not a REAL 5 year deal but still makes you think if they put off taking the QB at 1. Maybe they aren't sold on him. It would mix things up for who is on board at 8 for sure.

The Raiders are still 100% taking Mendoza #1. They recently mentioned that it would be best if he didn’t have to start right away and could learn from a veteran first. Cousins is perfect for that.

Cousins has had 11 straight years of fully guaranteed money

Do Raiders still go after OB @#1
I think so. I can’t imagine that they are going to alter their long term plans because of Kurt Cousins.

It's one of those Mickey Loomis special deals with void years at the end.

Per Rotoworld:
While his contract is technically for five years, $172 million, in reality he’s set to receive $20 million for one year with the Raiders. The Falcons are paying Cousins $8.7 million this season, the Raiders another $1.3 million and the Raiders have guaranteed Cousins a $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 new league year.

It’s a 1 year deal in reality, unless Mendoza gets hurt or something

This is worded so poorly.

Trying to guess what they actually mean, he is still on the hook for $8.7 mil with the Falcons. Separately from that the Raiders signed him to a 1* year deal for vet minimum ($1.3 mil). IF he is on the roster on the 3rd day of FA 2027 he gets another $10 mil.

So it's a 1 year vet minimum deal that can be extended if Mendoza is a bust or isn't ready next year.

If that's not what they mean and the $10 mil is fully guaranteed now, it doesn't come due one the 3rd day of 2027 like they say.

Mendoza is the Cuban Kirk Cousins (albeit younger and slightly more athletic). Good signing by the Raiders

No because you’re paying Flacco $6 mil and you’re paying Kirk $1 mil

Of that, an all-time NFL-high $339,369,288 was fully guaranteed, meaning 99% of Cousins’ career NFL earnings will have been fully guaranteed.

Like I said, his agent is a fricking legend.

Yup. All the big name starters that got cut are playing for the min 1.3 this year,

Tua, Cousins, Murray. Their original team is paying their salary.

Paying cousins while he plays for another team pretty much offsets paying Tua nothing this year.
