Bold marketing strategy. Let’s see if it pays off for them.

The amount of criticism will likely be less than she projects considering she's playing a (alien) woman.

She didn't say that. Variety did.

I’m very tempted to say some nsfw things about owning her body and what not…

This is a ridiculous own goal that was completely avoidable. They simply can’t help themselves.

Speak up the move until it fails then dunk on yourself like the gals from Madam Web did!

Thank God we can have a separate thread to talk over this again, and again, and again...

I'm going to guess, based on this comment, that she supports abortion.

Well let's have a conversation about faces backlash "simply by existing," and who doesn't.

Preparing for poor reviews of her performance I gather.

Does this:
“It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on,” Alcock said."

Equate to this:
"Supergirl star Milly Alcock knows she'll face backlash by "simply existing as a woman“

Or is there a different quote that you're referring to?

Ahh missed it in the headline.

Actually, no, "backlash" isn't quoted. I stand by my statement.

Do you know how quotations work? If it inside the quote, it’s directly taken from the source

quote:

by "simply existing as a woman in [franchise IP]."

The piece about backlash is the author giving context to the statement from the overall interview.

quote:

Milly Alcock told Vanity Fair in a new interview that she’s aware she’ll face backlash over leading Warner Bros. “Supergirl” simply because she’s playing a female superhero

Your position is that the author is lying?

Wrong, this is taken directly from vanity fair’s article

quote:

Has the famously fickle Game of Thrones fandom prepared Alcock for the inevitable backlash she’ll face?

“It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies,” she says. “I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”

The question she responded to included “backlash” to which she replied simply existing as a woman will cause people to comment on and have a weird ownership of women’s bodies

Don’t they roll out the boilerplate “I’m oppressed” for the media interviews before every big movie?

The reality is anything she says at this point is going to get twisted. And I'm not surprised she has that comment after being in House of the Dragon and how weird that big fandoms can be.

She's also not wrong that there's almost always a ton of scrutiny for the women taking roles in the either the MCU or DC. And the expectation of how they should look.

Is it a requirement that female superhero actresses be insufferable cuunts?
