I have an old inkbird, but used it recently and felt like it was off and don't trust it now. Anyone have one they really like that they would suggest? Thanks

Boil a pot of water and use the thermometer to check the temp. If it reads 212 degrees, you’re still good.

If you just want a thermometer to check steaks, chicken etc.

Thermoworks Thermapen

If you want something to keep the temps on long cooks, like on a smoker or in the oven.

Thermoworks Smoke

If you want a true wireless thermometer that has an app for your phone.

Thermoworks RFX
Uses a radio signal, not Bluetooth. You can’t block the signal.

I gave you 3 because I wasn’t sure exactly what you meant my cordless.

I have the Thermapen and the smoke. I’ve used the RFX as well.

the good thing about the rfx set up is you can continue to add more probes

app interface isn't the best but that's my only complaint

Yeh, that’s the best part about the RFX. Also, they’ve tested those probes inside of a Dutch oven that’s inside of a smoker and you never lose signal.

If I didn’t already have a 4 probe smoke, I’d have the RFX.

same and that’s all I need. I’ve never even used the remote on the the smoke. I do find that the thermapen eats batteries pretty quickly so always have some spares

MEATER Pro - Can handle up to 1000 degrees, so you can use it wherever (on grill, stove, pizza oven etc.)

The Meater Pro is nice, but it’s Bluetooth. It probably has a better app.

The RFX is a radio signal, no Bluetooth issues.

Both are good to 1000deg.

Have all of these plus a Signals. Can’t recommend them enough, all work exceptionally well, and Thermoworks customer service is outstanding.

I have Thermapens, which are excellent for instant checks.

Bought the two-thermometer Typhur Sync Gold remote set last December, and it's been great and simple to use. I've compared its temp readings to the Thermapen, and they are spot on. You can get it on sale for about $150.

You can bring the Typhur home base inside and glance at it to check temps of the meat and the ambient temp in the grill (which it reads from the outside end of the probes). It also has a good app, but you don't have to use the app to check status. You can set a final temp for your meat, and it will (after a while) predict how much longer at current cook temp until the meat hits that temp.

There are several good Youtube vids that compare the various competitors in this market.

Ive read the downside to the RFX is it's a little long and you have to push it farther into the meat than others like the Meater, was inconvenient at times to use because of that. Any truth there?

I just bought the RFX to use this season but haven't pulled it out yet.

There is a line on it that they recommend reaching when inserting, to protect the internals. I’ve never had a problem achieving that, but I guess that varies depending on your uses.
