Do “true Cajuns” make a distinction between those in/from Louisiana versus those in say, Mississippi or Texas? If so, how do they refer to them?

According to a friend who moved to Mississippi, he had to turn in his Cajun card as he left Louisiana.
I believe him because we all know a Cajun would never pull your leg...

By now there are probably more Cajuns in SE Texas by now than are left in Louisiana. Most left for greener pastures in the oilfield as company jobs moved from Louisiana to Texas and people took advantage of better schools and no income tax, but some are getting raked over the coals as property taxes in some school districts are as high as a giraffe.

Texas ranks lower than Louisiana in overall tax burden.Yes, there are high property taxes, but that’s pretty much it. Couple that with the fact that people are in some cases earning twice as much money as they would in LA.
Not to mention that you can actually send your kids to public school in the suburbs and rural areas of TX. That will save $10k+ per year right there, basically negating your taxes.

There are more "true Cajuns" in Evangeline Parish than Lafayette.
