Imagine retiring from a sport that requires you to sit on your butt and drive a car. “Athletes” these days are SOFT!

He’s going to retire and go dunk on all the low tier races and eventually become a menace at his local K1.
Or maybe he’ll be the hero to finally get F1 to bring back the V10s.

The problem in F1 is if your car is slow, it will be slow all year; there's no real way to fix that during the season. In Indycar, speed can be found in between races, and there is a level of racecraft that can get otherwise slow cars to the front.

I would have to think Indycar would go after him hard if he stepped away from F1.
Would be great if he drove the 8 Bud Car for JRM.

It’s why I enjoyed IROC races back in the day because the cars were identical.
It was purely based on driver skill, strategy and luck.

F1 has fricked themselves this season. It’s been a disaster. Coupled with the switch over to AppleTV, I bet it’s made the adoption that much more slow and painful for fans too. Not good for F1. This is the least excited I’ve ever been about a season and I’m a lifelong McLaren and F1 fan since 2020!

Everybody hates the new cars. Guess whatever driver’s union they have is worthless

Lifelong Max fan since 2021 here. I would probably have been ok with either Apple TV or the new regs, but the combination of the two (plus 5 week break for Iran) is making it really easy to tune out this season.
And I was legit excited about Cadillac. maybe I’ll go back all in when the GM PU hits the track. Especially if they tweak this arse formula.

His contract will be worth more than the value of the entirety of Indy as a series.
Indy is a regional racing series.
Also Max has said he has no desire to ever race in Indy.

I agree, the battery whatever “strategy” isn’t good for fans or fun to watch. Nobody wants this

Every F1 fan is bitching yet still watching.
The favorite past time of a F1 fan is complaining about how the series will be killed by XYZ.

You are right, but after Miami if nothing has changed the viewership will start to drop off. No one is going to watch the Silver Arrow runaway with it this year if there is no real challenger to them.
Ferrari has its problems and it looks like McLaren is making strides but if nothing changes expect it to start losing viewers in droves. The Apple TV coverage hasn't been an improvement and that hurts as well.

Maybe. Doubtful but maybe.
Will probably lose the bandwagon Max fans who will be replaced by bandwagon Merc fans. Or Ferrari fans if they have a decent year.

He’s already the best of all time. Nothing left to prove.

It has to be a hard fall for any champion to be stuck in the middle of the field.
Think it is obvious how good the Rdd Bull car actually was last year.
