Providence Steamroller is one of my all time favorites. Such a great name for a football franchise.

When I first moved to Lexington, I was told they used to have a minor league hockey team named the Kentucky Thoroughblades. That’s just a phenomenal name. You still see merchandise here and there around town.

When I was little the pro soccer team in STL was called the Saint Louis Steamers.

Pretty cool name referencing the local link to Steamboats going back to Huckleberry Finn.

Washington Redskins was also iconic. And apparently favored by the majority of Native Americans surveyed.

Seattle Supersonics was another great name that matched the location.

New Orleans Jazz is another good one. And makes more sense than the Utah Jazz.

Although I don't know whether the Jazz considered test marketing for the Utah Polygamists after moving to Salt Lake City

The fact you could shorten it to Skins, made it extra special. It still hurts!
