But good lord, the vitriol from NC State fans on twitter is on another level.

I was reading their reddit pages the last couple of days. There was a lot of sentiment of "this team was sloppy and undisciplined, he can go". Sour grapes, probably, but it was only one season.
Incidentally, "sloppy and undisciplined" was a common gripe here when Wade was coach the first time, if anyone has a short memory. Regardless, I'm ready to see what he can do in the NIL/Portal era.

Are you going to call to tell him how mad you are about tGeneral returning?

We'll see. This was my issue. No doubt a great recruiter, especially when he's got fists full of money, and he can coach the talent he has to get results, yes...but late in close games his coaching definitely leaves something to be desired.

Yea he really struggled down the stretch against top 5 Kentucky and top 5 Tennessee with HOF coaches

State fans still remember Tommy White transferring here, and now they lose Will Wade to us too? I hope we're paired up with State in the ACC-SEC challenge next year, that should be intense.

In the 10 years prior to Wade's arrival NC State had been to 3 NCAA Tournaments. The same amount Wade reached at LSU, alone. Sure they had the total fluke Final Four run two years ago (when they were planning to fire Keatts), but they were 12-19 (5-15) last year. NC State fans are feeling what we LSU fans felt 4 years ago...the empty feeling of the program starting over with no guarantee for success. However, their emptiness is further exacerbated by the fact (a) they are late to the game in coach search mode and (b) their much more affluent neighbor is in the market as well.
They are staring down the barrel of likely hiring a second-tier candidate who could possibly bring 3, 4, 5 years of bad basketball with him...after thinking they had just moved on from 8 years of mediocre to bad basketball
