Social media is a cancer. And those people are living proof of it.
Curious if Reddit wasn’t around how many of those people would have snapped back to reality/realized they’re acting crazy and stopped. But with social media they’re able to solidify their craziness.

One of the biggest downsides of the Internet is it let extreme weirdos form communities.

They used to make movies about breaking people like that out of their shells and getting them out into the world.
Now, they feed off each other and their insanity is affirmed as reasonable.

Exactly.
The weirdos began thinking they weren’t being weirdos when exposed to other weirdos and are spreading their dysfunction to everyone else in a way never before possible.
And don’t get me started on how it’s impacted women, who instead of being jealous of the local rich hot girl is now jealous of every rich hot girl in the world and is being told to be chase some boss feminist lifestyle instead of finding happiness within themselves and nurturing her family.

Worked in healthcare for over 40 years. Large studies confirm that long COVID can cause lasting health issues. Brain fog, memory and concentration problems, dizziness, headaches, sleep disruption, and a higher risk of anxiety, depression, and PTSD — all documented in large peer-reviewed studies. Point being COVID can be a risk to certain people.
I know people who stay cautious about COVID—like a Navy veteran friend with multiple myeloma, who wears masks in public per medical advice. Many face similar risks from autoimmune disease, cancer treatments, or compromised immunity. We don't know one's circumstances and why they might choose to fear getting sick or wear a mask in public.
Everyone has their own struggles. While I wouldn't use sites like that one, or even Reddit, I understand those who do—they face scrutiny and ridicule, but their efforts to connect and protect themselves are real to them. In the end, they're just people trying to manage their fears.

Found the problem right here. These are not health problems. These are mental problems.
Let the inmates run the asylum and eventually you have sympathy for this type of behavior instead of condoning it and trying to get people to change. So now we are left with people being coddled because they mask their immaturity with "Mental Health" instead of putting on their big boy pants and use that anxiety to better prepare for the scenarios in life instead of sitting in a closet, typing on a screen, eating SSRI's and thinking they should have someone provide this for them.

For reference, I have a neighbor who is an Infectious Disease Specialist with experience treating COVID-19, long COVID complications, and post-viral syndromes. He’s shared some of this with me in the past.
