Do you offer Sadiq Bey a max or near max deal this offseason?

Or do you go into the last year of an insanely team friendly $6 mil deal? The max for Sadiq is only 4 years $93 million if I’m not mistaken so it’s not like offering BI or Zion a max deal. I would love to think he’d sign a 4/$60 deal but that just isn’t realistic. I’d offer him 4 years $75-80 million in a second though.

He’s good but not a max player…max or near max is meant for all star caliber players…

It cuts both ways

Does saddiq want a guaranteed bag since he had a knee injury? Then we can get him at a slight discount

Does saddiq think he has another level? Then he may be crazy and play it out.

His max isn't anywhere near all star caliber players. His max extension is basically a good starting caliber player. Basically a Josh Hart type of salary.

$20M a year seems fair. He shouldnt get as much as Trey but he needs to be rewarded to stay long term.

He seems like a level headed guy that doesn’t act rashly so a guaranteed bag of $17-20 mil AAV for 4 years would be a tough thing to turn away, especially since its close to a max deal for him anyway. Maybe he wants to go to a contender. If so we are fricked so we would need to trade him and get draft picks rather than lose him for nothing. Hopefully he wants to be part of this team going forward as one of its core guys.

If we offer him a bag this offseason and he doesnt take it his agent is the worst in the industry. You dont walk away from guaranteed money after a career year, regardless of the team you're on.

He's said on numerous occasions that he likes the fit and his role here. He's not turning down an extension if offered in the offseason.

The Pels should lock him up long-term for sure.

Make no mistake, tm3's numbers are also not updated. He will get his soon - whether or not from us.

Pelicans control Bey and Murray each for 1 more season.

Assuming you can only retain one of those . . . the pelicans need to trade the other asap.

If you keep both you are really locking in your roster at a play-in level and praying one of Queen or fears took a dramatic leap forward to push past that.

You would hope Fears will be ready by year 3 to take the mantle.

Not sure what you mean. He's already signed until the 29-30 season.

I mean his extension was from 2 years ago and just entered into it. That next contract is 3 years away, but it's gonna be more inflated than bey's is what I mean

Especially when you are 27 years old, have earned only 20mil in your career and this is probably his only chance for a big money. Bruce Brown is the perfect example.
Not to mention that he came from a season long injury and there is no contender that will pay him similar money.

I think the NBA has limits on the % you can increase a salary on an extension. Isn't it like 120%?

Or is this one of those rules that goes away after the player vests a certain number of years?
