Pick up another draft pick, and select the Penn. St. guard and the line is set for years. Draft one receiver, and all defensive players with remaining picks. There's no guess work with the Penn. St. guard. Plug in star from day one.

Perfect, I'm sure there will be teams clamoring to trade up with us. Phone must be ringing off the hook, at this point.

I'd be fine trading down with a team willing to give up a 2026 and 2027 first to pick 8th.

Would be great os Cleveland gave us their 2027 1st and pick 24 for pick 8.

We could draft two very good prospects, and if for some reason Shough is nit the real deal have two top picks in 2027.

I’d only trade down if Bailey/Styles aren’t available

frick no then Delane will 100% be gone at 11. Stay where you are and take whoever is there out of Delane, Styles or Downs. Styles will be gone so if I had a choice I want Delane over Downs.

I’ll never understand caring that much about picking a one year mercenary

I prefer the elite guard over the non elite best by default corner

Agree with this.. I don’t think I’d take him at 8… but if we could trade back a few spots I’d take him and know I’ve got an elite OL for a decade. Though my preference is to get an elite defensive player at 8

Picking guards early in the first round, especially that high rarely turn out good…

The position just doesn’t move the needle enough to justify going that high.

Was it last year dallas grabbed a guard early maybe 12?
Was panned here and elsewhere but damn the guy turned into a beast. Yall know I want to try for a top 5 oline however wherever. Why not protect our old arse retiring any day now new QB.

I mean I’m not pounding the table to draft Vega at 8 but I rather draft him than Delaune. Vega is about as close to a sure thing as there is. He is a Quentin Nelson/Zach Martin type guard prospect. He isn’t just late first/border line second type that gets hyped up due to being best in class like Ruiz. Vega is a bonafide top 15 talent.

Supposedly we were picking him if Banks was gone.

No doubt he was good last year and the best rookie guard in the first. But look at Ratledge who was taken 45 picks later and was an immediate starter and his pff grades were not far behind Bookers.

I’d rather go that route and get a money position player than a guard. We did that last year getting a left tackle. This team needs talent at receiver, edge, or corner.

Yeah but then look at Jonah Savaiinaea who was the third guard taken and was drafted in the 2nd round at 20 picks before Ratledge. He was the worst starting guard in the nfl last year (81 out of 81)

I've never understood this argument. Ever. It's the most cart is empty argument to be made every draft season. Larry Allen was drafted in the second round in 1994 by Dallas. He was the best guard by far in that draft. Dallas WASTED a first round pick on Shante Carver.

The argument of I wouldn't pick him at 10 but I would at 20 will never, ever make sense in the real world. Imagine a GM passing on Pat Swilling, Montana, Dan Fouts, Jackie Slater, opining about none of those players were worth the value in the first round. If a guard is the best player on the board at 8, you choose him.

I guess I must spell it out for some fans. Trade down three spots if you find a team that wants the 8th pick that they are willing to trade their 11th pick, and a late rounder to move up. I don't believe the Saints want LSU's cornerback at 8th. Vega will be a star for many years.

Dallas won those super bowls because of Aiknan, Smith, and Irvin. And a good mix of defensive players.
