Its not just the medical field
I’m the only American in my program and that is not unique for my group.
Mainly Chinese and middle easterners

Take a step back a few years and think about how many qualified white and Asian candidates didn’t even get into medical school so a black queen could make it in with shite grades and test scores.
Then four years later, those who get in have to fight foreigners.

Still happening I can attest to.

This has been going on for a at least 10 years and I am sure it's longer. Know a guy who kept being turned down for dental school in favor of foreign students.
This goes to question about US education. If you listen to Democrats and their teachers unions, the US has the best education system in the world. How can this be if we have to go to foreign students and professionals to fill jobs US educated citizens are not qualified to fill?? You can't say we have the best educated work force and then say we do not have the skilled workers needed in this country.
This is proof that our US education system is not to educate kids, it's to indoctrinate them to be compliant to the will of government and special interest.

Many of those are in primary care. American students are trying to get into more competitive residencies and shite the bed. Now they can scramble and/or do a transitional year somewhere. Arkansas only takes one derm spot a year. They take 2 every other year or so, but it is always out of state. Don't want too much competition in state.

How many of those 1,367 are unqualified DEI med students?

The National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) today announced the results of the 2026 Main Residency Match®, the largest in the organization’s history, with over 53,000 applicants registered and more than 44,000 residency positions offered in over 6,800 program tracks across the United States. The 2026 Main Residency Match demonstrated continued strength in residency placement, with more than 93 percent of positions filled nationwide. Today at 12:00pm ET, matched applicants learned where they will begin their clinical training.

Some of those unfilled slots will end up being filled by people who didn't match.

Lot of layers to this issue. Hospitals want cheap labor and many US grads don’t want to go to someplace like Shreveport and do a less competitive residency so those spots have to get filled somehow and they do it through international grads.

Should have gone to law school.

Quite a few. Our local hospital just re-opened a family medicine residency. They had ZERO American students rank them number 1. Filled with 4 foreigners. Primary care salaries have been stagnant for 20 years. Foreigners are mostly the only ones that want to do it.
They don't teach them how to make money either and hire staff that don't know how. It's taboo to talk about money in medicine.

Yes, exactly. One thing I didn’t realize until I looked into NRMP data is how uneven the system is - some specialties (like family medicine) actually struggle to fill spots at all, while others are ultra-competitive and get mostly US grads and very few IMG. The IMG numbers look very different depending on where you look.

One way to help fix it is make primary care competitive. If they were paid more, you’d see a huge shift of applicants trying to do it. Can’t beat the lifestyle.
