Any genre is fine.

If I got to transport a single restaurant in Lafayette to Baton Rouge, it would be Pamplona.

Personally, I very much enjoy Poseidon's and Riverside Inn. I've heard (and read on here) that Vestal is excellent, but I just haven't yet had the time to try it.

If you don't mind driving a bit North to Sunset, the ribeye cap at Cafe Josephine is fantastic.

I don't find Pamplona to be as good as it once was under their new chef. Still solid small plates none the less.

Poseidon's, if you like Greek food. Make a reservation b/c the place is packed.

I’m not a fan of Greek food, and I still love Poseidons. Best damn lamb chops in the state, and you can get them served on top of very tasty shrimp or chicken alfredo. Also….they don’t skimp on the booze for your mixed drinks, and the owner will make sure you’re well taken care of.

Vestal is the best and probably priciest restaurant in Lafayette. It's worth the cost to me.

In the last couple years, Sarrica's and most recently CuGino's has been our go-to restaurants for Italian.

25 minute drive to Breaux Drive you will find Cafe Sydnie Mae which I consider a top-10 meal in the Acadiana area.

Vestal is the best restaurant in the city, IMO.

Also agree that Cafe Sydnie Mae is great, and a good time.

Been to Vestal twice and it was ok but loud. Had a fabulous meal at Jane’s, but the soup nazi chef was a bit much. Sydney Mae pork chop is worth the drive in my opinion.

It’s very loud. Definitely not somewhere that I would suggest to older folks or people who are hard of hearing. But, I like the lively atmosphere.

Ate at Charly G's for 2nd time in a month...man is that place overrated. this is my rating of our 2 visits. 5 Star Rating Scale
Gumbo- 3-star
Wedge Salad- 2-star (please use iceberg lettuce instead of bad romaine lettuce)
Crab cakes- 0-star (this was no bueno)
Moroccan spice Yellow fin Tuna- 2-star (fish has to be star of dish it isn't)
Pasta of Day- 4-Star
Pan seared Black Drum with kale and sweet potato puree 2-Starr (again fish is the star, and they kill fish with too much unnecessary flavors)
Lucky we are traveling to NO this week to eat at GW Fins (this week they have dry aged Blue Fin tuna) and in 2 weeks will Dine at Halls Chophouse in Charleston SC ..Lafayette Dinning Scene is weak except for Poseidon's, Cugino, Mazen Grill and Sydnie Mae.
