Just thought this was interesting & an angle that hasn’t been discussed here.

Ukraine has a vested interest in this conflict because Russia is experiencing a windfall from oil spikes and temporarily removed sanctions, while EU drama with Orban regarding Ukraine funding continues to play out in the background. This threatens to offset Ukraine’s 2025 progress in their direct engagement with Russia.
quote:

Ukraine has sent more than 200 experts to help Gulf countries defend themselves against Iranian drones, and was preparing to send nearly three dozen more, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this week.

“What is happening around Iran today is not a faraway war for us – because of the cooperation between Russia and Iran. And we do not believe we have the right to be indifferent,” Zelenskyy told the Parliament of the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

quote:

Last month, Ukraine shot down 3,238 Shahed-type drones – a record, said its Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. They made up only a part of more than 15,000 Russian drones Ukraine shot down in the same month. Zelenskyy is now selling that know-how to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He also offered to protect British bases in Cyprus, which were struck by a Shahed on March 2.

Our experts would place interception teams, and set up radars and acoustic coverage,” he told British MPs. “If Iran launched a large-scale attack – similar to Russian attacks – we would guarantee protection.

quote:

The problem is not efficacy, but expense. US ballistic interceptors cost up to $10m a shot, compared to roughly $3,000 for a Ukrainian interceptor drone, to shoot down a $50,000 Shahed.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine was “capable of producing at least 2,000 effective and combat-proven interceptors every day”, referring to drones developed by Ukrainian companies to shoot down other drones. “We need about 1,000 interceptors a day, and we can supply at least another 1,000 a day to our allies,” Zelenskyy said.

Kind of surprised with the situation in the ME in the last decade that the Arab world didn't already have their drone interception installed.

They are playing from behind on this front.

People won’t admit it on here, but Ukraine is one of the US’s most reliable allies now. Unlike most countries who ask for us to go fight their wars for them, Ukraine said just give us the weapons and equipment and we’ll do it ourselves. Even the mighty Israel needs us to fight their wars for them.

Ukraine is battle tested, has neutralized one of the main actors in the Russia/Iran/China/North Korean alliance, who are all aligned against us. And is more than willing to help out the Western alliance in our wars. I’m still dumbfounded by the hate Ukraine gets on here. Ukraine is everything we’ve ever wanted in the West. Someone who can fight their own wars.

It seems like they have interception capabilities, but it’s the low altitude stuff giving them issues.

You make a fair point, but it also makes sense that Ukraine is better equipped considering they have been actively fighting a war & defending against literally the exact same weapons (Iran sells the same arms to Russia that have been giving gulf allies issues)

Yeah but you know why. It’s pretty dumb, but it’s not as dumb as Russia / Hungary apologists.

They’ll all ignore this thread lol.

There’s a whole contingency of posters who bought Putin’s “Nazi” propaganda and/or claim Ukraine started that war.

And just yesterday there was a post claiming Ukraine stole the 2020 election for Joe Biden

I mean they are definitely going to be one of, if not our most committed partner excluding Israel, in this one.

A very incidental bonus from this Russia-Ukraine war that should have ended three years ago, is that Ukraine has become highly proficient in revolutionizing modern warfare.

Russia is going to ultimately get the eastern third of Ukraine when all is said and done, and I've said that from the very beginning. But I have also never failed to praise the valiant bravery and iron will of the Ukrainian defense. Those baws are legit, and I respect them.

It's incredibly sad that white people are starting to wake up to the fact that there's a globalist agenda to dehumanize and "nullify" them, but you've got two predominantly white Eastern European nations killing each other off with potentially millions of deaths. Meanwhile, Islam and China sit back and smile as they watch it go down.

Have you considered that most don’t care one way or another about Ukraine? They are just tired of working three jobs to pay for what Ukraine and Europe should be paying for, and missing their daughter growing up in the process of working that third job. Maybe they put their daughter before someone else on the other side of the planet.

Look I’m good with you speaking for yourself & that’s all fair. But you asked a simple question & I gave a simple answer.

I just think it’s funny that we have people here (this is a fact) who were so adamantly pro-Russia… when Russia is literally assisting Iran and receiving assistance from Iran… while Ukraine is assisting us.

I also think it’s funny some of the same people who were opposed to loaning money to the EU have absolutely no qualms with providing Israel support in the form of direct military engagement, which is likely to be far more expensive long-term.

All of this combined just proves that a ton of posters can’t keep up with geopolitics & have no consistent principles.

1) I think most of the ire in recent years is honestly targeted towards the endless pot of money for Ukraine that many of our “elites” probably personally benefit from as well.

2) Z has more often than not come across as an entitled and ungrateful little bastage who is always demanding more.

I’ve never gotten the impression that many posters have ever held any genuine animosity towards the regular Ukrainian people.

The US went from providing support to Ukraine to pressuring Ukraine & desperately attempting to frame them as the party in the wrong.

I don’t have any problem with the US backing out if it meant moving away from interventionism altogether… but why is he supposed to be grateful to the admin that ushers in that policy shift lol? Makes absolutely zero sense (also seems we are still intervening).

That being said, Ukraine is going to be fine because the EU (sans Orban) has their back.

Meanwhile Russia buys weapons from Iran, Iran lets Russian ships pass through the strait, Russia provides Iran with intelligence. Ukraine provides interceptor drones to US allies in the gulf.

And still we are getting…“But I don’t like Z”

Don't be. If you are referring to the isolationists on the board, it's stupidity. And they thought Trump would never get us into any direct conflicts.
Finally, Ukraine is the only country with balls in Europe. That's reason enough to like them. People on this board like Germany, Denmark, Estonia and Spain.

Ukraine is sadly a victim of the culture war between leftists and the right. They’re a major asset for US security and a bulwark against Russia in Europe. They have significant and superior expertise than we do in areas of anti drone warfare and air defense. Supporting them should be a no brainer.

Sadly, the US blew more air defense missiles in support of Israel in the first few days than all combined for Ukraine. I hope this administration wises up and realizes a militarily potent Ukraine in our corner is a huge win for us.
