Unfortunately, they don't have to force your state to raise taxes to pay their bills. If the Federal Reserve monetizes those states' unpayable debt, or the US Treasury pays it and the Fed monetizes that debt, you pay the resulting "inflation tax", as Ben Bernanke called it.

This is a feature of socialist systems. There comes a point where they will start trying to literally ensure their people cannot leave in order to keep their tax base. Notice how they are refusing to fund TSA as we speak. The push for electric cars, the removal of gas appliances, etc. They want to be able to shut you down with the push of a button to keep you in line. Its Nazi'ism on steroids with today's technology.
