Utah's Lt Gov comes up with a novel opposition to voter ID

I guess the "voter ID is racist" trope wasn't resonating in Utah, so she came up with a new argument. Voter ID violates a voter's right to a secret ballot.

Henderson worked to dispel claims about the SAVE America Act (SAA), the changes it would make, and how it would impact Utah. She said that Utah is a vote-by-mail state and that the Utah Constitution “guarantees the right to a secret ballot for federal and state elections.”
“The SAVE America Act requires a voter to include a photocopy of their ID in the return envelope of a by-mail ballot, violating our Constitutional right to a secret ballot,” Henderson wrote. She explained that Utah uses signature verification to verify ID, and soon the state will require the last four digits of a driver’s license or Social Security number, and those are two ways that Utah preserves ballot secrecy.

A secret ballot just means no one can know who you voted for, not that you voted at all.

How is she reconciling that last part about the last 4 digits of the drivers license or social security? Why provide those numbers unless they have something to compare it against WHICH WILL ABSOLUTELY REVEAL WHO SOMEONE VOTED FOR.

You look at an ID, you find the name, you check them off as voting. It's no different than going to a doctor's appointment other than why you're there.

She's a Republican too. Was part of state legislature prior to becoming Lt Gov. From Spanish Fork I believe. Middle class area. I do not believe this will be popular outside of downtown SLC.

Dumb bitch. Doesn't mean the voters ID is secret. Just means their choices after voting are not public record. If their choice was secret, who counts it?
