He was showing so much emotion in the dugout after his reliever went in. I think he forgot what it was like to play with guys who know how to play baseball well. He needs to get out of Pittsburgh at first opportunity.

He unfortunately has to go back and pitch in Pittsburgh.

I DO think the pirates will be much better his year with a revamped power lineup

Fortunately Skenes doesn't think like people like you. Its amazing that you believe every star player in a smaller market tshoud leave his team for a bigger stage. Why don't you let him think for himself what is important? Maybe being the foundation upon the rebuild of a once proud competitive team has more meaning to him,

lifelong Pirates fan here. He needs out asap. The ownership rapes that team every year, stuffing all the money he can. Never investing in a competitive roster.

It’s crazy him and Burrow in the same situation. The Pirates make the Bengals look like the Yankees

He got about the sane run support he gets in Pitt. Difference is the pen didn’t blow it

I am a lifelong Cardinals fan and worshipped their numerous career long players like Musial, Gibson, Brock, etc. They grew their own back in the day and the fans made demi-gods of them.

Then came Albert Pujols, who I still like, who was found and developed by StL. When his third contract came up they were going to give him everything he wanted and a statue outside the stadium. But he left StL for $5 mil on a $250 mil 10 yr deal. I was surprised the Cards did not match it. In the end he came back to StL on a one yr contract so he could retire a Cardinal for Cooperstown…

So wait until Skenes contract comes up. The Yankees or the Dodgers will make him an offer he cant refuse. Few others have their money.

same here - saw Musial's last home appearance - still consider them my favorite team but not so rabid for several decades now

most guys like Skenes are ultra competitive and want to WIN.

sure they obviously want the obscene money, but to a man, if you asked them, they all want a title even more than they want that contract.

so it’s not about being in a big/small market.
it’s about where do i have the best chance to win a World Series.

Did he not do that very thing when leaving Air Force for LSU? I don't fault him one bit for doing so, but it kind of presents some flaw in your logic there.

I have lost most of my rabid fandom for any MLB since the Pujols issue. It did not help when Auggie Busch died and son took over and eventually sold the team. Havent hd a competitive team since

Well its the first meaningful game he's pitched in since the 2023 CWS game vs Wake Forest. And probably the last meaningful game he'll pitch in until he gets out of Pittsburgh
