LOTR is the clear #1

Fighting for #2

Star War (original trilogy)
Indiana Jones (original trilogy)
Pirates of the Caribbean?

I would put it 4th on your list. The first was great, the sequels were just ok for me.

Some other trilogy’s I'd add:

The Godfather
The Dark Knight
Planet of the Apes
Captain America
Back to the Future

Third movie of these faltered, but first 2 were so strong.

Planet of the Apes

Presuming you mean the latest iteration. Never saw them.

Captain America

Very good. Never think of this one because #3 is a borderline Avengers movie. I'd probably put this one above POTC.

Can't believe I forgot this one. I'd put it in the "fighting for #2" category.

Give them a watch. It's a strong trilogy

Other good ones are the Oceans 11 trilogy and Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy

If you count them as a trilogy (and they're commonly referred to as "John Ford's Cavalry Trilogy"):
Fort Apache
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
Rio Grande

Sergio Leone's "Man With No Name" trilogy*:
Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

*My vote for #2
** I'd put John Ford's epics in the top 4

Love Ford, and these movies (own copies of them all), but I think the accepted definition of a trilogy is that involving the same character(s) over the course of three movies. Otherwise, Psycho, North By Northwest and The Birds could be a trilogy.

That's why I placed the "If you count..." caveat there. I would, personally. The themes, time periods, settings, and cast members involved are strong enough connections for me to count it as a trilogy.

Noted. As I said, they are great movies.

There's 5 POTC movies. Can we just pick any three movies from a series and call it a trilogy?

Not even in the top 10 due to how mediocre the sequels are compared to the original.

The original is good. I saw one of the 2 sequels in the original trilogy in the theater and It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I think it was the final one.

If they had stopped at The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones is easily top 4

I'd put The Matrix in instead of POTC on this list, but the Man with No Name trilogy makes the top 4 before either of them

Same could be said for Star Wars.

The original trilogy:

Curse of the Black Pearl
Dead Man's Chest
At World's End

I don’t know.. TOD was meh for me sandwiched between two great movies.

I did enjoy the Dial of Destiny, though.
