Side note- The sister of the family lives in Shreveport, right down the street from my parents. I used to work in her yard for what I thought was far too little pay for moving stepping stones and digging up plants

Used to bring my grandma there every time I'd visit. Loved that place.

This story reminds me of a few years back when restaurants would offer free meals to WW2 veterans.
