Is this considered a "major" yet?
If I were to rank the tournaments is would be:
1.The Masters
2. US Open
3. British Open
4. The Players
5. PGA Championship
The PGA championship never seems to have the atmosphere and tension as the other 4.

Agreed, the pga tour should start their own major to replace the PGA championship. The pga of america generally does a poor job of running the pga championship and ryder cup anyway. Just replace it with something better.

Also, I think the Players has the second largest purse of the tour (Tour Championship #1)

Brandel was going on about this again last night. It is the same old conversation every year at this time.

PGA Championship should go back to being a match play event to differentiate itself. As it stands now, it's just the Jordan Rodgers to the US Open's Aaron Rodgers.

PGA needs to be back in August before football season starts. Nobody cares about the FedEx Cup

No, it’s its own thing. Just let it be that.
I do agree the PGA has to do something to elevate their championship. Frisco is an unknown, but they are going to some great courses the next decade. Quail Hollow and Valhalla weren’t it, but Oak Hill was great.

Is it a “major”? No
Is it the hardest golf tournament to win? Yes

Repeat champions since 1980
The players has the least amount of repeats between it and the other 4 majors
54 hole leader winning the tournament
The players once again had the least amount of 54 hole leaders hanging on to win compared to the other 4 majors
Hate brandel all you want and refuse to ever call this a major if you want. But it’s the hardest golf tournament to win with the best field in golf
That not being considered in the “elite” tier of tournaments doesn’t make much logical sense

Pretty amazing this discussion comes up every year.
I still believe that the US Open is the hardest to win, but the Players is a close second as far as difficulty.
The Masters was it's greatest in the 80's when the best players were having fits just trying to stop and keep a ball on the greens. Now it's become a bombers course mostly.

No- like McGinley said to Brandel last night, this is a pure money grab from the Tour.

The players needs to be moved back to may. The overseed takes all the teeth out of teeth out of the course

Supposedly the course is going to play pretty tough this year. They’re going to shave some rough down that would normally prevent balls from going in hazards and firm / speed up the greens.
Of course if it rains you can throw that all out the window.

Brandel has gone full retard
He’s now stated that if The Players became a major, it would allow LIV Players to qualify
Speaking of LIV - they do concerts at The Players too?

No, Tiger isn't eligible to play in the event.

Absolutely not, every winner in March has been a major championship winner.

You can’t be a major if two of the top 10 favorites aren’t invited.

However the masters has roughly 30% of the field as arse and they are a major
It’s my favorite tournament but the field is lacking to me for a major
