Only the wealthy can afford Disney World

It’s a shame the American dream is gone. No houses for the middle class and no vacations to Disney World for the middle class. That is unless you saved for years!

Have you been recently? Yeah, it's expensive, but doesn't seem to stop plenty of trashy looking people from dropping the cash to go.

Call me crazy but $7000 for a trip for a family of four to Disney, what is going to be one of the most significant childhood trips, is just not that much money.
That’s less than $600 a month. People spend that on toys.
Edit - yeah I get the demographic on this board doesn’t find Disney interesting. No shite. It’s not about what you like. If you have kids, vacations are for them until they are old enough to enjoy things you want to do. It’s irrelevant what you prefer or think of Disney.
The funniest thing is the alternative for many here will be pigeon forge, aka the same commercial attributes as Disney world with hiking thrown in.

I thought Disney was full of figs and poors... how do the poors go? Blow their refund checks?

I am not wealthy but we try to take our kids to Disney every other year. Its about $5k for a family of 4.

I'd bet the overwhelming majority of Disney trips is on credit cards that'll take years to pay off.
We'd love to bring our kids but refuse to drop that kind of $$ on it. We are going to the Keys this summer and considered driving, stopping in Orlando and doing just one day at Magic Kingdom and it would still be ~$1000 for just that one day.

I went once when I was 11. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't significant at all, and I never cared to go back. There are too many other interesting places in the world.

this guy interviews people at Disney and asks how much debt they have
the very first people he talks to are Disney Adults who have a combined $170k in debt between them without a care in the world….next guy says his debt is “minimal” at $60k
but it’s a nice reminder when you stank rank yourself against the general public or social media and want to know “how can people afford this?” a lot of the times the answer is they can’t, they just don’t care or make poor decisions

Disney World is one of those places you go once, experience it and go somewhere else next time. This country has so many interesting and fun places to visit that it seems foolish to limit your vacation plans to the same place every time.

The ghetto crowd seems to be able to come up with the money.

what is going to be one of the most significant childhood trips,
My boys are in their late teens and love that we always took mountain and beach trips instead of wasting a vacation on Disney.
They talk about all the amazing hiking we've done often. I know they wouldn't call Disney significant.

I agree with the point that there is so much more to see but I also dont mind a weekend with the gf at a park. Easier because we do not have kids though

Keep putting off a trip because of amounts I see thrown around, but I'd book it if we could keep it at $5k just to scratch that off the kids' wish list.

I can appreciate that your boys enjoyed the trips yall took but unless they just hate rollercoasters, saying they wouldn't have enjoyed Disney World just as much if not more is you lying to yourself.
We take our kids more than most (every other year) but I do firmly believe every kid should got to Disney at least once before they are 10 years old and preferrably between 5-7. Those are the "Magic Years" where they will actually believe they are meeting tehir favorite characters.
